    The castle's architecture is influenced by the style imported from the East after the first Crusades in the Holy Land during the XII and XIII century. The rampart walls were erected about 13 m high, crowned with battlements perfectly drawn, a square (31 meters per side), and with four cylindrical towers attached at each of its corners, as well as the tank ditch and moat.   • When the Republican soldiers marched towards exile, someone issued the order to execute some pro-Franco prisoners who were in their custody. These included Rafael Sánchez Masas, one of the founders of the Falangist Movement. Imprisoned in the Collell shrine, they were marched out one day to the forest, where they faced a firing squad. But Sánchez Mazas fled and found shelter in the forest, where he met up with deserters from the Republican camp.     The medieval town of Pals is located on the summit of the hill of Puig Aspre, with a magnificent view over the area known as the “Empordà Petit” or Empordanet. Golf D' Aro Masnou Golf Club:

This is one of the golf courses with most long-standing tradition on the legendary Costa Brava. Located on the well-known mountain of Les Gavarres, surrounded by the most representative and varied flora of the area, the course was distinguished with the title of Best European Golf Course in 1992 by the European Society of Golf Course Architects.
